Hacienda La Caravedo

The first records of the La Caravedo vineyard date back to 1563, the year the city of Ica was founded. Doña Guiomar de Sosa and Francisco Sánchez de Revata were the owners of what is now known as the Old Hacienda La Caravedo.

Among the products the city received were fragrant wines and grape distillates from Ica, some of which were produced by the vineyard that would later become known as the Old Hacienda La Caravedo.

The sale of the vineyard from Juan Facundo to Roque Caravedo was officially registered on October 14, 1684. Caravedo renovated all the machinery used in production and installed an “oficina” (local term for the place where pisco is made) to distill grapes.

It was under Roque Caravedo’s administration that the estate reached its full potential and became known as La Caravedo, the name it is still known by today.
