Hacienda San José
Hacienda San José, located in Chincha, in the district of El Carmen, was an important producer of sugarcane and cotton in the 17th century. During that time, the landowners who owned it imported African slaves, eventually reaching up to 1,000 slaves over the years. The estate, which has been restored over time, is now a hotel and was declared a Cultural Heritage site in 1970.
