Hacienda San José

Hacienda San José, located in Chincha, in the district of El Carmen, was an important sugar cane and cotton plantation in the 17th century. During that period, the landowners who owned it imported African slaves, with the number reaching up to 1,000 over the years. The hacienda, which has been restored over time, is now a hotel and was declared a Cultural Heritage site in 1970.
