Hacienda Tacama

Bodega Tacama, founded in 1540 in the Ica Valley by Francisco de Carabantes, is the first vineyard in Peru and the oldest winery in South America. It introduced grapevines brought from the Canary Islands, which adapted well to the local climate, and its initial production supplied the religious orders. After the restrictions imposed by the Spanish Crown, Tacama innovated through distillation, giving rise to pisco.

In 1821, the winery was transferred to the Convent of San Agustín in Ica, preserving its historic architecture. Later, Manuel Pablo Olaechea acquired the vineyard, and in 1920, Dr. Daniel Olaechea incorporated French technology with renowned winemakers. In 2014, Tacama revamped its image and products, introducing new grape varieties and Mosto Verde piscos. In 2015, it opened Tambo de Tacama, the first wine tourism center in Peru, and in 2020, launched “Mulita”, a bold and distinctive pisco.
