The Paracas National Reserve

The Paracas National Reserve (RNP) protects important marine-coastal ecosystems and their biodiversity, which are essential for the conservation of species and the livelihood of thousands of locals. It also safeguards archaeological remains from the Paracas culture.

It is part of the Ramsar Convention (1992) due to its ecological significance. It is located in the districts of Paracas and Salas, in the provinces of Pisco and Ica, covering an area of 335,000 hectares, of which 65% are marine waters.

Located 250 km from Lima, it is easily accessible via the South Pan-American Highway. Camping is allowed with prior coordination, and it is close to destinations such as Pisco, El Chaco, and the Ballestas Islands.
